AI Storysmith ("we", "our", or "the app") is developed by Mike Mayes. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our iOS application.

Information We Collect

AI Storysmith is designed to minimize data collection. We do not require account creation or login.

• Story Content: Stories you create, characters you define, and related content are stored locally on your device. Story text is sent to our AI service provider (Anthropic Claude API) for story generation and returned to your device. We do not store your story content on our servers.
• Voice Audio: Generated narration audio is produced via the Speechify text-to-speech service and stored locally on your device.
• Purchase Information: If you subscribe to AI Storysmith Pro or purchase narration time add-ons, Apple processes and manages all payment information. We do not collect or store your payment details.
• Usage Data: We track narration time usage (minutes used) to manage your quota. This data is synced across your devices via Apple iCloud Key-Value Storage, which is tied to your iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud credentials.

Third-Party Services

AI Storysmith uses the following third-party services:

• Anthropic (Claude API): Story text prompts are sent to the Claude API for AI-powered story generation. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed by their service. Visit anthropic.com/privacy for details.
• Speechify: Story text is sent to Speechify's text-to-speech API to generate voice narration. Visit speechify.com/privacy for details.
• Apple iCloud: Key-value data (usage quota) is synced via iCloud. Apple's privacy policy governs iCloud data. Visit apple.com/privacy for details.
• Apple StoreKit: In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation of purchase status but no payment details.

Data Storage and Security

All story content, characters, and audio files are stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. API communications use HTTPS encryption in transit.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Story content is transmitted to Anthropic and Speechify solely for the purpose of generating stories and narration as described above.

Children's Privacy

AI Storysmith is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Data Retention

Since all content is stored locally on your device, you control your data. Deleting the app removes all locally stored stories, characters, and audio. iCloud Key-Value data can be managed through your device's iCloud settings.

Your Rights

You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the app from your device. Since we do not maintain user accounts or store personal data on our servers, there is no additional data to request or delete.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
